The Strategic Grouping of Materials (AeMAT) is made up of 11 multidisciplinary groups from the USC with significant research capabilities in the field of materials. This organization started its activity in 2018, after the recognition by the regional ministry of Galicia, Consellería de Educación, Universidade e Formación Profesional, as Strategic Partnership.

AeMAT pursues the creation of a unit specialized in materials. In order to achieve this goal, the partnership combines scientific research, both in the field of basic science and applied research, technology transfer; material resources; and a strategic plan with the objectives of generation and attraction of talent, technology transfer and excellent science, and the mission of creating striking science for and with the society.
